I received my first assignment 5 weeks later, wondering all that time to whom I had given so much of my personal information required to make an account. The Craigslist ad was only up for about 2 hours (is thatvsuspicious? Were the deluged with applicants or keeping a low profile?). I immediately took sample pictures for them and received the "welcome aboard" email that day. I found them on Craigslist in mid-July as they claimed to have a need for field photographers in my area. It's as if they are pasting from a FAQ page.

First and foremost they don't want to communicate with you and if they do, they don't answer your questions directly. I can't say anything definitive because they are shadowy and mysterious. Velocity REO / BPO Photoflow are a curious bunch. There is no one looking over your shoulder from the company and there is minimal paperwork - the filing of a W-9 is about it. You rarely have any interaction with anyone in performing this job. If you account for that capital investment, a portion of which is recovered by the tax mileage deduction, the net pay probably drops to about $4.00/hr. is minimal both in time and effort but the equipment required is, while typically in one's possession (camera phone, computer, car, internet access) does represent a personal capital investment. The computer task of uploading photos etc. The actual 'work' - taking photos - typically takes less than two minutes and I accepted this job because I got a new EV and wanted to 'cruise.' I've been doing photojournalism for 50 years.Īfter expensing mileage at $.55/mile, the typical 'job' nets me $2.21 and figuring travel at 27 miles per hour, each job takes about a half-hour of travel time meaning net pay is about $4.50/hr. Indeed, if it weren't for the entertainment value of driving around back roads listening to audio books, I'd say hell no.

The only reason I chose to do this job (I'm retired) is because I own an electric vehicle which cuts my cost of travel so I don't feel I'm a complete fool. I'm pretty sure this distance per-job has to do with zip codes I cover. They do offer some additional mileage payments for going to locations that are beyond a certain distance but this seems arbitrary as I've received mileage bonuses for properties that are in an adjacent zip code that are actually closer than some locations in the 'large' zip code in which I reside.

In about five weeks, I've been offered 66 jobs at an average price of $9.45 and an average travel distance per job of 13 miles. The number of jobs and timing doesn't appear to be consistent. The job is to respond to individual job offers that range in price from $6.75 to maybe $15.00. The internet setup is okay to relatively good. The gross pay is okay but it would surprise me if anyone, even in a relatively concise geographic market, is making more than absolute minimum wage after expenses, which are the bulk of the income.
